Cruising from New Orleans

We%26#39;re booked on a Carnival cruise that departs N.O. on 12/24. We want to arrive the day before. Can anybody recommend a hotel that offers vehicle storage during cruises? Thanks!

Cruising from New Orleans

Roswell: I too am planning to depart on a 12/23, 7 day Norweigian cruises and will spend a couple of days in N.O. before the trip. I am not at all familiar with the cruise ship area but I was told be a friend of mine that the parking at the cruise ship port is safe and secure. Have you heard differently?

Cruising from New Orleans

Though I can鈥檛 suggest a hotel that offers parking while you are on your cruise, I would suggest the Erato St. Cruise Terminal and parking garage. It is where the cruise ships depart. This terminal is new and secure 鈥?only cruise passengers may use the terminal. There is parking for 1000 cars -- all you have to do is go to the elevator in the parking garage and you will be in the cruise terminal. You can find more information about the garage at www.portno.com.

These are the general directions:

General Directions to Erato St. Cruise Terminal and Julia St. Cruise Terminals:

Take I-10 east to New Orleans, follow the signs to the N.O. Business District, US90 West, Crescent City Connection to the West Bank. Take last exit before crossing the Mississippi River, which is Exit 11C, Tchoupitoulas and South Peters St. Take downramp to ground level, go to second stoplight (Tchoupitoulas St.) and turn right. Go to next stoplight (Henderson St.) and turn left. Go two blocks, go over the railroad tracks and turn left. The Cruise Terminals are directly ahead of you and Harbor Police will be directing traffic.

Parking for Erato St. Cruise Terminal

Go directly to the Erato Parking Garage entrance. On the first floor of the garage (3rd floor of the terminal building) you will be directed to the offloading area in the middle of the floor. SeaCaps will take your checked baggage and deliver them directly to the ship. After parking, you will take Elevators #3, 4 or 5 to the second floor check in and waiting area. Parking cost $14 per day. Please have your cruise ticket available as you will need to show them to enter the garage. Maximum height is 8%26#39; 4'; (limited space) on 3rd floor and 7%26#39; 6'; on higher floors, and maximum 22 feet in length. Garage is secure, lighted and patrolled.

Erato Street terminal is fine and secure.

I can vouch for the parking garage...Best way to go as you will want to get to your vehicle as quickly as possible after enjoying the *fun* of debarkation

We had no problems and it was very well lit
