Birthday recommendations

My husband and I booked our trip to N.O. 10/2-10/9. We will be staying at the Ritz-Carlton and hope to relax and enjoy N.O. Luckily, I will also be celebraing my birthday while there. Any recommendations on celebrating my 30th birthday on 10/7 (a Sunday)?

Be sure to make reservations at Commander%26#39;s Palace. My dad and I ate there for a Jazz Brunch and loved it. Great food and service.

I agree that Sunday brunch at Commander%26#39;s Palace is a wonderful suggestion for celebrating your 30th birthday. However, I have found that the jazz group that walks around from table to table can be VERY loud. When making your reservations, I would suggest the Garden Room - which is the most popular, and is larger, so there is more space for the musicians to wander. In fact, I personally would let them know, while making my reservation, that I do not want to be seated in an area close to the music (trust me, you can hear it no matter where you are sitting, so won%26#39;t miss out on the ';jazz'; portion of the brunch). You may, however, want to be closer to the musicians, so just be sure to let them know your preference.

Also, be sure that when making the reservation, you let them know that you will be celebrating a birthday. They will make it special. I have celebrated many birthdays there, and it has always been fun.

Another truly fun Saturday or Sunday festive option is tea at Windsor Court - not far from your hotel. Although it%26#39;s generally groups of ladies at tea, I have seen men, and recently brought my boyfriend, who LOVED it! The atmosphere is just so pretty, lots of fresh flowers, and I think it%26#39;s the best tea served in America (tea at The Plaza did not even compare).

Restaurant August is near your hotel, and is extremely beautiful and romantic, and the food has always been quite good. I think it%26#39;s better at night, just because the lighting is so gorgeous (whereas I prefer Commander%26#39;s during the day, because of the big windows, and great view of one of the best oak trees in the city).

Now I%26#39;m getting very hungry! If you would like to email me specific questions, I believe there is an option through tripadvisor, and I%26#39;d be happy to answer them. My office is close to the Ritz, and I%26#39;ve lived in New Orleans my entire life (and love it!).

I went to the Jazz Brunch on my birthday and they gave me a special hat to wear and desert! It was a poofy chef hat and I know everyone else was jealous :-)
