We are coming this weekend and are curious to know if and how we should go about seeing wreckage of Katrina. We are taking a taxi from the airport to the French Quarter and are wondering if we will see anything.

No, you won%26#39;t. The road from the airport to the Quarter goes through Metairie, a suburb that didn%26#39;t get as much flood damage.

There%26#39;s not much ';wreckage'; left. Just houses that haven%26#39;t been repaired. If you%26#39;re still expecting it to look like September 2005, you%26#39;ll be disappointed. Much of the area just looks like a construction zone.

Tours by Isabelle does a good city tour. It shows some of the rebuilding areas.

Well, I am happy it does not look like 2005. Thank you for the information.

We drove through several areas, including the Ninth Ward, in June and were left quite numb by the devastation that still exists. I would recommend seeing the areas if you get the chance. It was definitely an eye-opener.

FYI JJ 鈥?Metairie got a LOT of flood damage, much more so than you鈥檇 think. It鈥檚 amazing how many homes flood when the pumps aren鈥檛 turned on.
