Wine Bars in New Orleans near Loews Hotel

Can anyone recommend a nice wine bar, perhaps serving tapas or light snacks, that we can walk to from the Loews Hotel?

Thanks in advance.

There used to be a Wine Loft in that area, but I understand it hasn%26#39;t reopened since Katrina.

It%26#39;s not a wine bar, but check out ';RIo Mar';, a seafood/tapas place just a few blocks away. Great tapas menu.

JJNOLA, that sounds perfect....thanks!

Lucky for you, the Swizzle Stick in your hotel is a fun bar, and they serve some of the very good restaurant%26#39;s food there as well.

Also, the Wine Institute of New Orleans is located just two blocks from your hotel, on Tchopitoulas Street (pronouncesd chop-i-too-las). They serve a wide varieties of wines by the glass.

La Cote, located in the Renaissance Hotel, a couple more blocks down Tchopitoulas, has a lovely upscale bar, and they serve good food from the restaurant as well.

Also on Tchopitoulas, a couple more blocks down, is Tommy%26#39;s Wine Bar, next door to the restaurant of the same name. His food is very good (he had been with Irene%26#39;s), and the wine bar serves many varieties of wine, and lots of good small portions from the bar.

I second the Wine Institute of New Orleans (WINO) at 610 Tchoupitoulas. I had never been in a computerized wine bar before where you buy a card for whatever amount you choose and stick it in a slot next to one of dozens of bottles under pressurized nitrogen gas, and select a third, half or full glass of the chosen bottle. I guess there are a fewe on the West Coast but I%26#39;d not been in them. You can also get pesto, cheese, bread and learn about wine from the experienced staff. I liked the name WINO and the place, and the system. If you really enjoy a glass, they will sell the bottle to go at reasonable prices.
