Best Place For Gumbo?

Whats the best place for gumbo, my fiance is sorely disappointed that Mike Andersons is closed and she wants gumbo so I would like to find the best gumbo in town.

Best Place For Gumbo?

Cast my vote for K-Paul%26#39;s.

Best Place For Gumbo?

the gumbo shop has never failed to meet our needs, but i agree k pauls has some excellent gumbo too.

K-Paul%26#39;s and Mr. B%26#39;s Bistro both have fantastic gumbo. Can%26#39;t go wrong with either. Also, I had really good meaty gumbo at EAT (Dauphine/Dumaine) the other day. Pleasantly surprised!

I like the gumbo shop also.

Mr. B%26#39;s has Gumbo Ya Ya on the menu always -- a definitive rustic, spicy chicken and andouille gumbo with a very dark roux...excellent. They sometimes have a seafood gumbo too that is very good. I also like the gumbo at the Redfish grill. It is a seafood gumbo with alligator sausage. It has a lighter texture than many seafood gumbos. If you are willing to look outside the Quarter, go to Liuzza%26#39;s by the Track in Mid-city (www.nola.com/sites/liuzzas/). They have a great method of adding fresh seafood to the gumbo at the last minute so it is not over-cooked.

Cajunwave:

I%26#39;m curiopus. Is ';EAT'; at Dauphine and Dumaine a new name for a placeon the corner, with a different name (can%26#39;t remember what) , mostly touted as a brunch place where Hemingway had a corner table (yeah right). Door right on the corner, three steps up, two narrow rooms.

';EAT'; used to be a place called ';Quarter Scene.';

That%26#39;s the one. Thanks.

I tried it several times - benefit of the doubt, and all. Nice room, nice cozy location , but they just couldn%26#39;t get their act together in terms of service -- unless surly was their shtick.

Walked out the third time when a waiter said, ';Sit anywhere you want, just not anywhere there is a place setting.'; and he turned and flounced away, lewaving me at the door.

Hope the new owners have changed their staff as well as the name. That location and building are too good to go unused.

You guys are awesome thanks! I leave this Friday for NO and I cant wait

EAT took the building from Quarter Scene but that%26#39;s about it. It was redecorated, all new staff, new chef Jerrod Zeringue, etc. Don%26#39;t pass it up...it%26#39;s worth the try. The beef brisket, gumbo and chicken sandwiches are all faves of mine.
