Shortest Distance, Little Rock, AR to New Orleans

I am trying to find the shortest distance from Little Rock, AR to New Orleans, LA. Please help, I am leaving on Friday (July 6). Thanks.

Shortest Distance, Little Rock, AR to New Orleans

It%26#39;s been a while since I%26#39;ve been up that way, but it looks to me like this would be the shortest route:

Take I-530 South (which is also US 65 South)

I-530 will end, but stay on US 65 South until you get to Tallulah, Louisiana

From there take I-20 East to Jackson, Mississippi

Then I-55 South which ends at I-10 East in LaPlace, Louisiana

You can take I-10 East into the city,

We lived in Little Rock twice. ';Home'; was always either Lake Charles or Baton Rouge, and we%26#39;ve explored just about every possible route from Little Rock to both of those cities.. The shortest distance isn%26#39;t always the fastest drive. We prefer I-40 to I-55, then straight down to LaPlace, where you%26#39;ll pick up I-10. Even though it%26#39;s a bit farther, it%26#39;s much faster than US 65.

Thanks, Rodin. I was wondering if the route using I-49 would have been better, but I didn%26#39;t consider going into Memphis. Glad someone with firsthand experience posted.

It%26#39;s been a number of years, but I drove up from Morgan City to Little Rock using Hwy 167, then on the way back went through Shreveport and took I 49. It was longer in miles but faster in time. But it makes good sense to catch on to I-55. That%26#39;s a quick and fast route with many services en route.

I-49 wasn%26#39;t around when we were making our trips. That would have been great for us when we were going to Lake Charles. In your case, though, it doesn%26#39;t make much sense. You%26#39;d need to travel 100 miles to the west to pick up I-49 in Shreveport, then you%26#39;d need to cover those miles again, to get back to the longitude of your starting point. That%26#39;s 200 miles out of your way. Even at 70 miles per hour, that%26#39;s 3 hours driving going east to west and west to east, when you really want to go south.
