What would be on your list of must-dos?

We are thinking going down for a quick trip next month. It will be two 40somethings, one 20 year old and one 16 year old. We%26#39;ve been several times so this is not a ';gotta see it all'; kind of trip, but I do want to make the best use of the time we have.

What would you do?

start in french quarter and walk around, then go to bourbon/frenchmen st at night, (the first night? - as a first impression- see the best and worst of nola right away) not sure about the 16 yr old that would be at your discretion,.. the avg 16 year old would have fun but there will be drinking, craziness, possibly nudity etc, the 20 year old will have the time of their life if you let them separate for awhile! just dont ive them your credit card~heh. an tell them to obey the laws. but in my opinion, bourbon is nothing the 16 year old couldnt handle.... the 40 yer old might find it a bit garish and even annoying. then. the next day say, do a katrina tour. really an eye opener, see the total other side of the city, i think it%26#39;s a must do. then go to the garden district and a cemetary, just walk around or do a tour. it will prob get old fast walking though if you%26#39;re not used to the heat. and have dinner at one of the ';big guns'; nola restaurants, creole meal that will cost you but it authentic, say galatoires, antoines or commanders palace. there are so many more options and it depends of course on your pace but those came to mind as a local as what i would do with my guests.

Day 1- Take the ferry across the river to Mardi Gras World. go to the DDay Museum %26amp; Odgen Museum of Southern Art

Day 2- Take a day cruise on the a steamboat, walk the quarter in the daytime shop on Royal %26amp; in the French Market. Take the Canal St streetcar to City Park, see the sulpture garden,

Day 3- Go to a planation %26amp; on swamp tour, Do a buggy ride thru the qtr

If you%26#39;re here on Sunday evening, go to Tipitina%26#39;s for a real fais do-do. If you%26#39;re on a Thurs night, go to Rock N Bowl for zydeco.
