W Hotel / Westin / Wyndam ???

OK, I%26#39;ve been to N.Orleans quite a few times, the most recent was NYEve, which was the best trip to date. Great atmosphere, very clean, %26amp; we walked the entire Quarter %26amp; felt perfectly safe the entire time, if there%26#39;s any questions left out there on the safety factor.

We%26#39;re planning on going back Halloween. I have what may be a dumb question: Is the W Hotel a Westin, Wyndam, or not related to either??? We have a new W in Dallas, so I just heard of this a few months back. I did a little research %26amp; read on some website that the Westin was purchased by Wyndam, but they%26#39;re keeping the Westin name for a while. I believe this was at Canal Place??? I also hear that there are 2 different Wyndam properties near the Quarter. I%26#39;m super confused.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

W Hotel / Westin / Wyndam ???

The W is a different chain from Westin and Wyndam.

I think they might be owned by the same people, and I think they are apart of the sheridan too. Don%26#39;t quote me, but I am 75% sure. The canal place is a westin, and I think the W might be the ';trendy'; one. Either way, I%26#39;ve been to Westins in Boston Chicago and they%26#39;re wonderful, best beds I%26#39;ve ever slept on!

Hey Tonya!

A comfortable bed doesn%26#39;t matter to that guy who posted that he%26#39;d been drunk for 9 days straight ! Or was it 15??? That was funny. (from some other thread)

Long as I can walk to Coop%26#39;s, I%26#39;m good! I think the wife %26amp; I are working on Halloween, did I read y%26#39;all are going back St. Patrick %26#39;08??? Need a trip review when you go.

W is in the Starwood group with Sheraton and Westin but are different hotels. The W in the quarter is very nice. Small rooms but the courtyard is great and the beds are very comfortable even if you have been drunk for 9 days.

I%26#39;d skip the W in the quarter if you want to sleep at night..They tolerate all night parties going on in the courtyard.

norman22---%26gt; lol what a legendary 9 days that had to have been

and spell my name right!!! it%26#39;s in my user name duh!

You caught it... I knew it as soon as I hit %26#39;send%26#39;. Give me a little credit for the 2nd post though w/ the correction! And yes, that%26#39;s a LOOONG 9 days. About 2 1/2-3 is my old-a$$ limit these days. I usually ';ain%26#39;t right'; for about a week after a long wkend in NOLA.

FYI, we went to Memphis to celebrate our 1st anniversary a few weeks back %26amp; low %26amp; behold there%26#39;s a Pat O%26#39;Brien%26#39;s right there on the legendary Beale St. in downtown Memphis. After making the rounds after a great dinner I coaxed my wife into hitting the piano bar %26amp; watching me consume massive amts of hurricane. For a brief moment there I thought I was a little further south!

Thanks for the help on the W%26#39;s, we always try to stay at a different location each trip %26amp; w/ the Quarter, there are so many choices, some good, some bad. Reading these reviews never gets old. We have a friend w/ some type of ';W'; connection so we%26#39;re hoping for a good rate at one of them. I think she%26#39;s a Wyndam.

Thanks all !!!

I love the starwood properties. Norman, you wouldn%26#39;t believe how many people don%26#39;t spell my name right....or call me ';TAN ya'; like from my mom%26#39;s hiljack friends.

When are you going back down? I%26#39;m definitely thinking next march for us, I%26#39;m still trying to convince ryan to move down there with me, although I might have to do it alone!

Starwood Hotels owns W, Westin and Sheraton, among other brands. No affiliation with Wyndham Hotels.

Currently, there are two W Hotels (FQ, Poydras) in New Orleans, zero Westins and four Wyndhams: Canal Place, Bourbon Orleans, Whitney, and Riverfront.

The Westin Canal Place operated for about 20 years until Wyndham bought it a few years ago, hence the confusion.

Westin is trying very hard to get back into the New Orleans market but every project they are affiliated with seems to run into brick walls.
