Transportation from Hilton Riverside to Audubon Zoo?

Since we will have no car, we need to kinow the best way to get from the Hilton Riverside to the zoo. Is there a street car or bus that will take us there? How often do they run and where would we catch it? Would a taxi be the easiest? If so, about how much would it cost for 2 people?

Transportation from Hilton Riverside to Audubon Zoo?

hello.. i actually visited the zoo today.. we went to the aquarium.. you can get the aquarium/zoo/shuttle for $28 per person..

its worth it, IMO

I took the ferry between the Aquarium and the zoo one way (agree it%26#39;s worth it) and the Charles St. Bus the other way. I%26#39;m not sure exactly where the Hilton is, but the bus goes to the corner of Charles and Canal, just about across from Bourbon St., not too far of a walk if the hotel is on the River. The hotel concierge told me it would be over $20 for a cab. Have a great trip!

A recent post indicated that the riverboat from the Aquarium to the Zoo was not up and running yet.

You might check the New Orleans transit authority website, if the ferry is operated by them it would have information. You also could email the Hilton, they will know if the ferry is operating. If operating the ferry would be grat one way and simply take the bus back transferring on canel to the street car which stops near the casino. Be sure and tell the bus driver you need a transfer. All the drivers we came across were helpful.

If you have time and energy after your zoo visit a number of guides publish walking tours of the Garden district, also Lafeyette Cemetary in the GD is an interesting walk about. The St. Chaarles bus goes right through he GD. Still Perkin%26#39; in the GD is a nice little coffe shop with light meals to catch a rest.

I don%26#39;t know if there is more than 1 ferry. The ticket windows at the Aquarium and Zoo sold the one I rode as a combo ticket with the Aq/Zoo admission. That ferry was running on May 18, 2007 when I took it.

Does the boat go roundtrip to the zoo and back from the zoo both? That sounds like a good way to go!

The most economical way to do this is to take the Magazine Street bus. You%26#39;d catch it on Canal and Magazine and ride all the way to the park. It couldn%26#39;t be easier.

Plus, as you%26#39;re tooling along on the bus, you can scope out the shopping/dining area and great stores and restaurants on Magazine Street for future shopping and dining excursions!

We always like taking public transportation when we visit a city; you can get a real %26#39;feel%26#39; for the neighborhoods, and we always find something interesting that we wouldn%26#39;t have paid attention to if we were in a shuttle bus.

I think you can get a bus pass for several days pretty cheap, so you can hop on and off as you like.
