cajun food

My wife and I are staying in Bossier City near the Louisana Boardwalk and would love to have some cajun food without getting in our car and driving.

Can anyone recommend a restaurant in the downtown area of Bossier or Shreveport,

The Blind Tiger is within walking distance of the hotels. We have visited there on several occasions and have always found the food to be great. They have little fried meat pies and other great selections on their menu. It is a quaint little place that is much better than you would guess just by looking at the outside.

Ralph %26amp; Kacoo%26#39;s is a good cajun/seafood restaurant and only a short cab ride from the Boardwalk to Old Minton Rd., which is very close to the old Isle of Capri (now Diamond Jack%26#39;s). Ate there Sat. night %26amp; it was great. Orginal down near Bourbon St. in New Orleans, new one just opened just north of Dallas.

Also good lunch (gumbo) was a small place right next to the Buffalo Wild Wings on the Boardwalk, Gumbo Daddy%26#39;s or Craw Daddies???. Registers were down but all the food looked great %26amp; a nice mid-day crowd.

The original Ralph and Kacoo%26#39;s was at False River (New Roads) Louisiana, and it opened in 1969. The New Orleans location wasn%26#39;t opened until after Ralph and Kacoo Olinde had sold the business. I%26#39;ve eaten at all their Louisiana locations and the food isn%26#39;t bad but, unfortunately, it isn%26#39;t anywhere near as good as it was at the original False River location.

On another note, whatever you do, steer clear of Joe%26#39;s Crab Shack on the Boardwalk. The food there is very forgettable.

My bad, I thought the orginal was in the Quarter. And I agree, stear clear of (any) Joe%26#39;s Crab Shack. Very blah.

No problem, Norman. I hope my post didn%26#39;t sound too harsh. The only reason I%26#39;m so familiar with Ralph and Kackoo%26#39;s is that I grew up in a town about 20 miles from False River, and we went to False River often.

By the way, until very recently, I thought the original La Madeleine%26#39;s was in New Orleans. After all this time, I%26#39;ve discovered that it was started up in your neck of the woods.

Not harsh at all, I needed correcting. They just opened one up here in Allen, Tx, but haven%26#39;t been yet. I need to.

Ah, yes, old Le Madeleine...I thought the same thing for years also. Yep, rumor has it he befriended Stanley Marcus of the Neimen Marcus fame, and his advise helped him get off %26amp; running. Not a huge fan of it, but my wife loves it. Good food for sure.
