High School and College Mission trip and have limited time..

We will be staying out near I-10 and I-510 and will be working in the Chalmette and Central City(?) areas. We will have some limited sightseeing time and want to spend it wisely. Also, would like to take in some authentic cuisine because I live to eat... Any help?

Rather than a repeat..try doing a forum search for sightseeing or tours and cajun food or creole food etc. We%26#39;ve had so many questions here on just what you want to know.

You can%26#39;t go wrong with heading to Magazine Street, which is Uptown. It borders the Garden District, so you%26#39;ll be able to see some of the beautiful Southern mansions, and there are tons of restaurants at every price level and which appeal to every possible taste on this one street. Magazine Street runs along the river (and parallel with St. Charles Avenue, our grandest boulevard, with gorgeous old oak trees, and even more gorgeous mansions), from one end of Uptown - where the zoo starts - all the way to Downtown - where the French Quarter starts. In between the zoo and the French Quarter, in addition to tons of places to eat, there are lots of shops - funky, clothing, antique, home furnishings, spas, etc. High school and college age kids (okay, I%26#39;m 36, so ya%26#39;ll seem young to me now) are all over Magazine Street, as are people of every age, race, background, nationality, etc. You might even run into a celeb. Magazine Street is the Melrose of New Orleans (though even cooler to tell you the truth).
