Where is Magazine Street ? Is it in the quarter? If not what is the best way to get there from the quarter?
magazine street
Magazine is a VERY long street which runs from Canal Street all the way to Audubon Park for a total of about 70 blocks. It%26#39;s also a challenging street for drivers: small lanes, lots of traffic, one way traffic suddenly changing to 2-way, etc. GREAT boutique shopping, dozens of antiques/';vintage'; clothing stores and lots of fun restaurants and bars.
Google ';Magazine Street'; and you should find the address for the merchants association. They will send you a map and brochure.
Since Magazine is so long, you really need to pick the area you wish to visit in advance and then decide cab vs. bus to get there.
magazine street
happy, no it isn%26#39;t in the Quarter, it is in the lower Garden District. Magazine Street is (according to the guide books) over six miles long so it might run into other neighborhoods, too, but not the Quarter. It is on the opposite of Canal Street from the Quarter. The best way to get there would be probably to take a cab, then get out and just walk from shop to shop...or, if you have a car, you can drive over and park along the street, we have never had a problem finding a parking space. Or possibly there is a bus that goes there, but I don%26#39;t know about that. It is a fun area to spend some time and do some shopping. In my opinion, it would be way too far from the Quarter to walk, especially considering that there are miles and miles of shops once you get to Magazine Street.
Maybe a local expert can be of more help..
We%26#39;ve always taken the Magazine Street Bus there and back.
Good beer at The Bulldog.

The #11 bus runs the length of Magazine in both directions. Catch it at the intersection of Canal and Camp. (NOTE: Chartres Street in the French Quarter becomes Camp Street on the other side of Canal).
The bus runs both in directions along the full length of Magazine Street. The journey uptown ends at the Audubon Park Zoo.
If you don鈥檛 have a particular destination in mind, you might want to ride the whole six miles of Magazine Street, just to get the lay of the land. Then, on the ride back, you can hop off on a stretch that interests you.
Bus fare is $1.25, exact change.
