Swamp tour at Honey Island or down in Houma area?

I%26#39;ve been reading about the Houma area and sounds like it would be a very interesting drive while in NO. But I%26#39;ve heard the Honey Island Swamp Tour north of NO is very good. Does anyone know about the swamp tours down in the Houma area? Which area might be more interesting? We love nature type tours, but doubt we have time for both. Thanks for any input. Connie (going in early Sept.)

oops sorry but that is wildlife gardens in gibson,la

I don%26#39;t know if time would allow, but the Atchafalaya swamp is fabulous, and tours are out of McGee%26#39;s Landing. The swamp is between Baton Rouge and Lafayette, putting you close to Cajun country, another interesting stop while in La. Whatever you decide to do, schedule it in the morning, as it gets warm and sometimes rainy in the afternoon. If you get as far as Lafayette, stop in at Randal%26#39;s restaurant for Cajun music and dancing, but stick to the steamed or boiled seafood on the menu. For excellent Cajun food, go the Prejean%26#39;s Restaurant. You won%26#39;t regret the detour if your schedule allows.

I will mapquest the route from NO to Gibson%26#39;s Landing. I love to drive, so maybe we could get up really early one morning and head that direction. I think I may have seen something about Cajun Man%26#39;s Swamp tour...will go look again. And would love to be in an area with strong Cajun influence...love the variance this area offers. I know we%26#39;ll have to make a return trip to see more.

So...are the swamps down there bigger/different than north of NO?

(and thanks for the replies)

Is this the cajun man%26#39;s swamp tour you were referring to?

Ron %26#39;Black%26#39; Guidry http://www.cajunman.com/

yes that is the one,he is very entertaining have you ever seen the mazda auto commercials where the guy goes through the woods yelling ayeeeeeeeeeeeee well he is the guy in the commercials and he is a cajun musician so he will probably sing a song or 2,and i cant explain the difference in the swamps here but they are different

Cajunman from what I have heard does a fine tour, CajunJack in Patterson also. I%26#39;ve had friends stay at the wildlife gardens in Gibson and its an experience and worthwhile and they arrange swamp tours also. As much as I like the Honey Island Swamp tours it sounds like the Houma/Gibson area would be best for what you want.

Cajunyank...you threw out a few new names/places for me to check out. Thanks so much, your input is always great. I think we%26#39;ll get up very early one morning and drive down to the Houma area and see what we can see :-)

i did the pearl river and that was great fun.
