My husband and I are early risers. Where can we get breakfast in the fq? Nothing fancy, just coffee and eggs. We are staying at the Omni and dont mind walking a bit. Also, how much is cab fare to the Rock and Bowl from the fq?
breakfast in the fq
My husband and I like Johnny%26#39;s on St. Louis Street for breakfast, or a bit farther down on Bourbon is Clover Grill. Johnny%26#39;s would be closer to the Omni but Clover would be a pleasant walk. Both are very casual and inexpensive diners. Can%26#39;t help you on the cab fare to Rock and Bowl as we always have our own car.

You%26#39;ll love Johnny%26#39;s Poboys for breakfast and lunch. It is right around the corner from the Omni on St. Louis. We were there for breakfast on Memorial Day weekend. You should have seen the soft shell crabs and gumbo being served at 10 a.m.!!! Of course, you can get regular breakfast items. Enjoy!
By the way, the Omni is a beautiful hotel.......a real New Orleans classic with a wonderful location! Their pool/cabana area on top is spectacular.
We went to the Rock ';n'; Bowl from the FQ by taxi at the end of May and believe it was about $15 dollars or so each way w/o tip.
This place is quick and good. You order at the counter and they bring it over to you. Good egg N biscuits, omlets, etc

I like Croissant d%26#39;Or Patisserie for breakfast in the quarter on Ursuline (just off of Chartres).
I concur that Bluebird in Uptown is great too.
Have fun at Rock n Bowl! If you get another chance to go out of the FQ, try the Maple Leaf Bar (Oak Street in Uptown) for great Bands in an intimate setting (can be crowded). Likely similar Cab Fare.
Petunia%26#39;s is by far the best breakfast in the FQ. Ok, so it is slow, however, tell me something that is that good and fast???? St. Louis and Bourbon Street. Enjoy!!!!!
';Petunia%26#39;s is by far the best breakfast in the FQ.';
I agree that it%26#39;s very good. But I%26#39;m not sure I would recommend it to the OP who was looking for ';nothing fancy, just coffee and eggs';.
And there%26#39;s slow and then there%26#39;s sloowwww. :)
My experience at Petunia%26#39;s was about 2.5 hours, counting waiting on line and waiting for food. And I was ok with that, it was just a lazy Friday morning with nothing on the agenda. But it%26#39;s definitely not the place to go if you%26#39;re in any kind of hurry.
The Coffee Pot on St. Peter offers a great breakfast. The staff is very nice and friendly there also.
Any one of the Café Beignet%26#39;s the bacon is to die for and the beignets are excellent. The one on Royal Street and Bourban both have outdoor seating if you like.
