I am trying to find the best place to take my 3 granddaughters for brunch (in December), and I am confused about exactly what brunch means. I know that the Courtyard of Two Sisters has a brunch that is actually a buffet, but some of the other places that I have looked into don%26#39;t have a buffet, you just order off of the menu. Does Commander%26#39;s Palace have a buffet or do you order from the menu? And do all of the places have jazz or some type of music, or would it specifically have to say %26#39;jazz brunch%26#39;.
In my neck of the woods, brunch would always refer to a breakfast/lunch buffet meal...so I think that is why I am confused.
confused about brunchjlr - brunch can be either a buffet or off the menu. See another recent post for recommendations for buffet type.
I%26#39;ve been to two jazz brunches, Commander%26#39;s Palace and the Palace Cafe on Canal St. both Brennan%26#39;s, and enjoyed them both very much. We liked the jazz as it added to the atmosphere immensely, and the musicians at the Palace Cafe were very cordial and were happy to tell us stories of the songs that we requested.
Locals can recommend other jazz brunches, I%26#39;m sure, but I can recommend either of the above two for good food and a good time. Lastly, my impression (from reading here, I have not been), is that the Court of the Two Sisters is not that good.
confused about brunchI%26#39;d vote for Commander%26#39;s...I gather from all of your posts that you%26#39;re trying to give your granddaughters a ';true New Orleans experience'; and if jazz brunch is what you%26#39;re looking for, IMHO, they really are the best in town.
I found the link for their brunch menu for you:
commanderspalace.com/new_orleans/…
As you can see, you order off the menu...be sure to make reservations, plan on spending a good bit of time enjoying brunch, and don%26#39;t plan on eating very much for the rest of the day! I also gather form your previous posts that you%26#39;re not looking for a huge meal, so consider sharing a complete meal with one of the granddaughters.
Be sure to make reservations!
Thanks to both of your for your replies...Caseyno, you hit it on the head, I want a true New Orleans experience. I think we will probably go with Commanders and I will be sure to make reservations in advance. I have read so many wonderful things about it - it will be one of our our %26#39;splurge%26#39; meals.
I just looked at the Palace Cafe Jazz Brunch menu, and it looks wonderful, too...we might have to go to both places! I am familiar with where Commander%26#39;s is, but not Palace Cafe, but I%26#39;m sure I can find it.
jlr - You certainly cannot possibly go wrong with Commander%26#39;s. It would be (and is), my first choice as well, and you will love it.
Here%26#39;s a bit on the Palace Cafe (on Canal at the foot of Chartres), if you go to both...

They used to have the jazz brunch on both Sat and Sun. but it looks like just Sunday, now.
Don%26#39;t miss the Crabmeat Cheesecake, if you go.
I love crabmeat but haven%26#39;t heard of crabmeat cheesecake, that sounds different!
The Palca Cafe looks great, I checked out the website. I was originally thinking of going to Brennan%26#39;s for the Sunday Jazz brunch, any opinions???
Thanks,
Barb
I%26#39;d rank Palace Cafe behind Commander%26#39;s and/or Brennan%26#39;s.
Thanks, Casey. Since we%26#39;ve been to Commanders in Las
Vegas, I think we will stick with Brennans.
barb
Definitely make sure it says Jazz Brunch if you want the music.
