Harry Anderson live show?

I%26#39;ve been wanting to see Harry Anderson%26#39;s live act. Is he still doing it? Any idea where or if you can get tickets in advance? I%26#39;ll be back in NO for my birthday 8/27-31.

Thanks!

Harry Anderson live show?

I saw his show at his FQ club in May 06, I believe. IMO he seemed to be just going through the motions of the same old routines he did on the Tonight Show over 20 years ago. Either he was having a bad night or was all around burnt out. Encountering him around town ';off duty'; just eavesdropping, he seemed to be a rather bitter, sour old man.

There was a newspaper article sometime this year where he was interviewed giving his reasons for leaving, and ';giving up'; on the city.

Harry Anderson live show?

Oh yes. To check on performers and times, etc., when in town pick up a copy of the wekly ';Gambit'; newspaper. I think it is also on line.

Harry Anderson sold his home in New Orleans and bought a home in Asheville. He had his Speakeasy club on the market but I don%26#39;t know if it sold. There were not enough tourists to keep the club going. And when our group saw him in early 2006 he put on a great show with jokes, card tricks, and an unbelievable feat of photographic memory.

Harry%26#39;s club is still on the market. To my knowledge, he%26#39;s not doing any shows in New Orleans.

I just did a realty check..his club sold in June 2007 for about 1.8 million..a nice piece of change. Thats realty check not reality check.

Oh my. 1.8 mil would pay for a nice bit of retirement in Asheville (N.C.?). Of course, that would depend on his original purchase price, and how heavily it was mortgaged. I know I%26#39;m sounding like sour grapes, but he first had a failed magic shop, then a failed night club.

%26#39;Twill be interesting to see what moves into that property. The realty (not reality) prices are stil in such a state of flux, even pre-K.

Hmmm, the new owners need to take the ';For Sale'; signs down if they closed on the property in June! :-)

Cajunyank, do you know who bought it? It%26#39;s a great bar location but always seems to have trouble keeping a tenant.

I wouldn%26#39;t say it%26#39;s a great bar location. Too far downriver to get the Quarter crowd, andnot near enough to the Frenchman/Marigny strip to catch their overflow.

And that end of Decatur has too many still boarded-up places, plus a few junk shops, so it doesn%26#39;t attract foot traffic. Perhaps another guest house? But it would take a lot of remodeling. The downstairs has a lot of square footage, but would need massive building, walls, plumbing, etc. I don%26#39;t know what it upstairs, other than Harry%26#39;s former dressing room before the performances.

Most likely practical use is another restaurant. But in these days .... Again location and low demand.

More likely use is not sale, but rent it out for office space for businesses returning and needing temporary space.

Will be interesting to watch.

Actually according to the realtor for its location at Decatur and Esplanade is excellent and its close to other Marigny clubs and it has 5 apartments upstairs that can be turned into use or some renovation to make it like a condo. Harry sold his house here for $895,000 and bought the Asheville NC home for $570,000. I was in the area just two weekends ago and there was a lot of foot traffic in that area. Harry made no mention of performing in Asheville but there is a chance he might perform at Harrah%26#39;s at some point as he had done in the past when I had seen him twice before Oswald%26#39;s.
