Can anyone recommend a hotel near the University of New Orleans? Thanks!
Hotel near UNO
Which campus will you be attending?
Hotel near UNO
Sorry....My son will be attending the main campus. Thanks.
Downtown campus on Corondolet St. Now length of stay? month?price preferences? You need to narrow it down a bit so our local experts can jump in.
okay....isn%26#39;t the main campus close to Lake Ponchatrain? Something mid range in price....safe area is a concern. Thanks!
The length of stay will probably be overnight.
Another question...is the Navy Lodge in NO in a safe area? My husband is retired military and we could stay there. It may be pretty far away though.
Navy Lodge is across the river on Gen. Meyer and can be a traffic nightmare from the Lakefront. Since its the Lakefront campus at Elysian/Lakeshore/Leon C. Simon the only one I know of in that area is the Landmark not far off the Causeway bridge. I hope this bumps up the posting so others more familiar with that area can rec. a nice place.
Diane...I hope this bumps you up higher so someone familiar with that area can help you out.
There are no hotels close to UNO, unfortunately. Since the French Quarter and Central Business District are only a few miles away, it%26#39;s not really a big issue.
You may also find some B%26amp;Bs in the City Park area, which is about halfway to UNO from downtown.
diane694..I got some solid info. from a friend on an easy route to the UNO Lakefront campus. Its the Avalon Hotel off of Read Blvd. (with the relocated excellent Sasafras Restaurant). You leave there on Read Blvd. and go to Hayne Blvd down to Leon C. Simon and you%26#39;re there in just minutes. They have renovated after Katrina and its a short hop to UNO.
The Avalon is in the New Orleans East neighborhood. I wouldn%26#39;t stay there in any circumstances, unfortunately. It%26#39;s ';the hood'; at night and I would question safety and availability of food, gas, medical services and whatever else you may need. Much of the neighborhood is still empty.
