We%26#39;re staying at the St Marie and booked a balcony room. Need your opinion about street versus courtyard (pool) view. Which streets does the St Marie face? Toulouse and/or Dauphine? Also do you have a favorite room there? Thanks.
Hotel St Marie - balcony rooms
I had a ';balcony'; room at the St. Marie. It was just about big enough to put a chair on and was off the bathroom. I had a ';view'; of the backs of buildings. Hope you have better luck than I had. That was 5 years ago and I haven%26#39;t been there since.
Hotel St Marie - balcony rooms
I agree with Ricajun, if you pick a street view, you will see the hotel across the street, and if you crane way over, a glimpse of Bourbon Street. I was disappointed with the street side. I have had the courtyard view, and had a slightly bigger (shared) balcony, and the view was much prettier. If you are lucky there will be a wedding you can spy on. But, honestly, if you are going in the summer it will be too hot to sit out for any length of time except at night, so the courtyard would be a better bet.
I think your street view would face Toulouse, but I%26#39;m not sure.
I%26#39;m pretty sure the street view is Toulouse and I%26#39;d choose the courtyard over the street view as theres not too much to see on Toulouse in the 800 block. You will like the quaint old style lighting and carpeting in the hallways and they have a lounge, breakfast bistro, and Hillary%26#39;s Restaurant is in the building also which has a great spinach salad and twice backed porkchops. But then again characters abound in the quarter and you never know what you will see from the balcony.
They have balconies on Dauphine and Toulouse Sts. I enjoyed the Toulouse St. Balcony. Better for people watching. We saw a bum trying to mooch money from Tourists waiting for their cars, people just partying and having a good time. Toulouse should be better than Dauphine.
While I%26#39;m very fond of the St. Marie, I have not found the upgrade to a balcony room that much of a bonus. I had the same room with the bathroom balcony once, and another with a boring view of Dauphine.
Definitely would love to stay here!
