Okay, the wife and I where down in the Big Easy earlier this week, but it wasn%26#39;t so easy. A number of times we waited patiently at a street car stop and well they didn%26#39;t stop, lol. At first it was a little funny, but after the 3rd and 4th time we just started walkin.... Do you have to like jump out in front of them or something? The only reason I ask is in October when we return we%26#39;d really like to try out the experience, lol, without having to wait for hours... Thanks in advance..
Is there a trick?
Are you certain you were at a designated stop? If so, I have no idea why they wouldn%26#39;t stop. I%26#39;ve never encountered a remotely similar problem. Maybe some of the drivers are inexperienced with the streetcar lines.
Is there a trick?
Well I certainly thought we were at a designated stop, they let people off, only problem was it was the other side of the car, lol. Not onto the platform, but the otherside, which seem real weird, don%26#39;t you board and exit from the centre platform? One driver slowed down and asked us, but told us we should go the other way if we want to go on a tour of the city. Truely a strange day, worst part was we were not the only people waiting, about 4 or 5 of us and none of us could figure it out..... Guess just a bad day in the neighborhood, lol.
Where were you trying to board? Which line?

Boarding and exiting from the center platform? Do you mean the platform between the tracks? If so, I don%26#39;t ever recall boarding from between the tracks. Can some of of the locals assist my repidly diminishing memory?
Is this the line that runs by the Riverwalk? I am not familiar with that line. The line that goes to City Park is probably the one you were looking for. In my experience, the only time streetcars don%26#39;t stop is when they are too full....hmmm.....so sorry that you had a bad experience!!
Also, you HAVE to be at a designated stop. I%26#39;ve seen people try to ';flag down'; buses and streetcars here and it won%26#39;t work!
Another streetcar note: the Canal line is now running every 15 minutes on a pretty firm schedule. I%26#39;ve already seen more cars on this route than I%26#39;ve seen in months.
CajunWave...they just added three more cars so that might help. Those folks were probably on the wrong side for traveling the way they wanted to go??
It is unfortunate you had a bad experiance. We were in NO in May and rode the streetcars and buses every day with great success. The drivers were fun and helpful.
This May I took the Riverfront streetcar almost every day. Standing on the designated platform, benches, shelter, etc., - the driver would stop and wave us over to the other side to board. Hop over tracks, wlk through the gravel, climb up to the high step since not stepping off the platform. Weird. Had to exit on the odd side, also. First time I just thought the door on the common side was damaged. But each day! Maybe they want tourists to get their exercise.
No logic at all to the system.
