You guys were so helpful with my previous post I thought I%26#39;d ask your opinion on which hotel you prefer--Soniat House or Le Pavillion. I%26#39;m going with my significant other, who%26#39;s never been to New Orleans before, so I want to make it a special trip.
Le Pavillion vs. Soniat House
I haven%26#39;t stayed at either, but I would always choose to stay in the French Quarter (Soniat House) over staying out of the Quarter.
Le Pavillion vs. Soniat House
I have only stayed at the Soniat House, and it is a lovely old hotel in the back of the French Quarter. It is quite pricey compared to Le Pavillion, though. The St. Louis Hotel is also historic, quite nice, in the quarter 1/2 block from Bourbon St. and has a beautiful courtyard similar to the Soniat House. I have found deals there through some of the travel sites.
Our first trip to New Orleans, we stayed at the Soniat House. It ended up being so wonderful, we%26#39;ve been back many times! The hotel is beautiful; if your budget allows it, be sure to get an upstairs junior suite in the property across the street. They have great liitle balconies that open up over the courtyard.
It is really a romantic, magical place.....
I do not rec. the St. Louis at all. They were in need of renovation pre Katrina and more so now. They seem to want to specialize in weddings in their courtyard and let their rooms deteriorate etc.
Le Pavillion is very nice with the Crystal Room and peanut butter sandwiches at 10PM but I found the beds to be somewhat short. We had a queen size bed that couldn%26#39;t even pass for a double and it was %26#39;short%26#39;. Their parking next door was $25 per day at that time.
I%26#39;d have to say the Soniat House if those are your ultimate choices.
