Malls?

I%26#39;ll be staying at the Wyndham Riverfront and was wondering if shopping (other than the Riverwalk Marketplace) is within walking distance from my hotel? Thanks!

Malls?

You will be within walking distance of the French Quarter, and there are many shops there, from cheap on Bourbon Street to wildly expensive on Royal Street. There is a place called JaxFest on Decatur Street that used to have a lot of shops, but is pretty sparse since Katrina (unless more have moved in since the last time I was there). There is another %26#39;mall%26#39; at the end of Canal Street but I don%26#39;t know the name...it has a lot of shops, a cinema, and some eating places. You will be very close to a lot of shopping opportunities. All of these should be within a fifteen minute walk from your hotel.

Malls?

You%26#39;ll be directly across the street from the Riverwalk Marketpkace. I haven%26#39;t been inside the Riverwalk since before Kkatrina, but their web site seems to indicate that everything is just about back to normal.

Your title says ';Malls';...are you looking specifically for mall shopping, or just for centralized shopping areas?

There are three malls in the metro area that are ';malls'; at least (and I%26#39;m assuming here) compared to Texas malls...i.e. shopping destinations with at least one large anchor department store, numerous chains and some local presence. Two malls, Lakeside and Clearview, are in Metairie and definitely not within walking distance. The Riverwalk Marketplace is an enclosed shopping area, but the largest stores you%26#39;ll see there are GAP and Banana Republic.

So that leaves Canal Place...you can walk from your hotel just past Harrah%26#39;s to the ';foot'; of Canal Street (just before it hits the river). It is definitely more upscale...Brooks Brothers, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, and Saks Fifth Avenue (which was totally renovated and expanded postK).

For a more ';local'; shopping experience, definitely stroll down Royal Street, or take a cab to Magazine Street! You can check out their shops here:

It is a long street, so research the website to see what jumps out at you and stick to one area...there%26#39;s no way that you can see it all in one day!

Have fun!

Thank you all for your help! Is there a Victoria Secrets located at any of the places mentioned? Thanks again!

Canal Place is a very nice shopping center and I much prefer it to any of the malls around town. I don%26#39;t believe that it has a VS and I don%26#39;t think the Riverwalk does either. Canal Place has its own website with a listing of stores, hours, etc.

The only Victoria%26#39;s Secret around is at the Lakeside Mall in Metairie.
