Saint Ann Marie Antoinette?

Just found much lower rates at this hotel. I read a recent recommendation on this forum for %26#39;St. Marie%26#39;. Would this be

the same place? thanks again...

Saint Ann Marie Antoinette?

Different hotels. The St. Marie is much nicer.

Saint Ann Marie Antoinette?

The St Ann Marie Antoinette, on Conti St., is an older place. Partnered with the St Luis a block over. About a 2.5 star. Their rooms have been redone post Katrina -- new carpets, mattresses, etc. Nice courtyard and bar. Restaurant still closed, coupons given for free breakfast at the St Louis, which sporadically are not valid.

Quirky lobby, rickety elevator.

If you want a basic room, right now about 49 per night, this will do for a prime center Quarter location. But if you want a ';luxury'; hotel with fancy lobby, doormen, etc., go elsewhere. Once inside the room, it%26#39;s about the same as the higher priced spreads.

I alternate. I use the St A M-A for quick short trips, and the Bourbon Orleans (with their online sales) for longer stays when I want the whole experience. Basically, depends on whom you are trying to impress, even yourself.

But you might want to at least cmpare prices (here in Trip Advisor) with the 3-place chain of St Marie, Prince Conti, and (?) .

As said above, this is an older hotel that has been redone. We have stayed there 10 times over the past 4 years without any problems. The staff is always very accomodating. The bar, Claire%26#39;s, is a great little place to meet locals and have a nice, quiet drink. Claire is a riot and will keep you laughing. The bar is off the courtyard and poolside. If you%26#39;re looking for something fancy, this isn%26#39;t it, but if you want a clean, safe room, you%26#39;ve found the place. We%26#39;ll be there is three weeks to stay for a week. I%26#39;m ready!

Conzo.......if you were referring to my post I was speaking of the Hotel St Marie not St Ann Marie Antoinette. My sis did stay in the later as a last minute Mardi Gras hotel and said it was ';a place to lay your head down';.Hote St Marie is a sister hotel of Place D Armes and Prince Conti, I believe.

Normally I would be looking for more of a bargain, but since this is our first visit, and my daughter has some physical limitations....I want to choose a place that feels very safe to her, and where we can easily get to places, whether it is a short walk or a tour.

Sooooo...all your advice is very helpful. Thanks.

pauliewalnuts..you are right on the sister hotels..and any of the three would be an excellent choice and much superior to the QMA.

See............I%26#39;ve been doing my homework !!

Thanks to all for the input. I booked a room (with window) at the Place d%26#39; Armes. Both the location and hotel look great...should be able to catch tours, etc. very easily....plus close to Jackson Square so my daughter can walk there. Now I can relax and enjoy reading everyone%26#39;s posts about things we must do while there.

Thanks again...this forum is great :-)
