Still looking for a place to have dinner on our first night. Thought about steak but couldn%26#39;t settle on a place(not willing to pay for Mr Brennan%26#39;s steak). I have to save Acme and Coop%26#39;s until the next two nights when the other couple joins our party. Couldn%26#39;t find Filix%26#39;s web page.
I plan on taking the ghost tour at 8pm departing from the voodoo place across from Pat O%26#39;s (the name has just left me). I would like a good meal at a middle of the road price. Not wanting to do the fancy restaurants this trip. Didn%26#39;t want to dine at Pat O%26#39;s. Help me please
What about Felix's?
Maspero%26#39;s would be good however its cash or check..no credit card. Or Franks (Italian) on Decatur several block past Cafe DuMonde or Star Steak House.
What about Felix's?
Unless Felix%26#39;s staff has had a serious attitude adjustment, I won%26#39;t be back. There are better places in the FQ (like Acme and Deanie%26#39;s) which have good inexpensive seafood and less surly servers.
I don%26#39;t need no ';tude'; with my dinner. What%26#39;s the deal? Thanks for some new places for me to checkout.
I%26#39;d skip Felix%26#39;s too. Last time there was a couple months ago, long wait, not really good food or service...won%26#39;t go back. It was the third strike for them.
Just a couple doors from your tour is Yo Mama%26#39;s on St. Peter; an extensive burger menu, and other items too....usually has a special; funny friendly bartender (usually), has become one of our local favorite funky places. I always get one of the many burgers, but a ';picky'; friend always has a steak and says it%26#39;s really good. Open late and has an interesting upstairs bar with occasional live music. Plus you%26#39;d be just steps away from your tour.
Or.....you may prefer the Gumbo Shop for a quieter restaurant type meal..also on St. Peter and close to the tour, toward Jackson Square and has middle of road prices.
Thanks Mayran. I%26#39;ll look up Yo Mama%26#39;s.
the acme across from felix does a great job and is two or three times more likely to ever see my smiling face again than felix%26#39;s is. the quality, service and demeanor of the place cannot compare. the acme is is a great value and has great food along with magnificent fresh oysters. stick with the oysters from acem and leave felix alone.
Here are a few other places in the Quarter to try:
Mona Lias for italian and pizza
Eat - for Southern style food
Fiorella%26#39;s
Port of Call for burgers
Does EAT have a web site or some place I can look them up? Was not successful with Google. Thanks
Crescent City Steak House for steak
for a casual meal- Louisiana Bistro, Crescent City Brewhouse, or Oceana Grill
I%26#39;ve heard Felix%26#39;s is doing better, but I haven%26#39;t been back yet.
I third the nomination for EAT New Orleans. I believe the website is www.eatneworleans.com - I have not heard anything remarkable about Felix%26#39;s - I would avoid. Some of the other places mentioned are not in the FQ and you would have to drive or cab there - I assume you want to stick around the FQ.
