lol you%26#39;re asking what to do at a bachelor party in new orleans? That%26#39;s like asking if there are places to get married in Las Vegas!

Now I have talked about this at length with my friends what we would do at our bachlorette parties, and don%26#39;t even do the %26#39;tours%26#39; and all that stuff, you can do this anytime. You%26#39;re there to ';bro down';, which is a word my bf and his friends titled them hanging out and drinking, etc.

Go down boubon street, throw crap off balconies, go to strip clubs (of course if your gfs don%26#39;t mind, or don%26#39;t tell them, whichever), go to Harrah%26#39;s it%26#39;s right on canal and spend some green there, I don%26#39;t know. Food and all that is an afterthought when I think of bachelor parties. Maybe I am too wild for you guys.

Also, there is a poster on here who spent 9 days entirely drunk here, and I think they should post on this thread to tell you how to have a good time

Bachelor Party in August - What should we do???

look, i understand the basics of a bachelor party after having gone to them in las vegas 5 times, new york 2 times, and cabo for my own. yes, drinking is one of the main attractions and that is also the main attraction of new orleans, but i am just looking for a few spots that we can add to the itinerary that might not be all about drinking. this group is a bit past their prime, most about 33, so the drinking has taken its toll on our livers. that being said, we are looking for some basic HOT SPOTS, that might make the time even bettr, thats all.

you mentioned strip clubs, but there has to be one that is better than the other. food might be an after thought, but we still have to eat, so what are some of the great restaurants around town for a group of 9 rowdy guys?? thanks for the harrahs reccomendation, but how about your favorite places to drink?? thats all i am talking about. we just want a few tips from a few insiders that know NO well, so we dont have to waste time at the places that arent worth spending time at .

i sure wish i was 22 again!! ;-) sure wish i could party like that still!!

your help is appreciated!

pat o briens is the best bar in town. it might be the best bar in the whole us of a.

I%26#39;ve seen rowdy businessmen at Acme Oyster house a few times, and the food is good. I%26#39;ve only been to two of the strip clubs, but some of the least trashy down there I%26#39;ve been in are Hustler Club and the one across the street from the Royal Sonesta...Ricks I think is the name. I don%26#39;t know if I%26#39;d call Pat O%26#39;s the best bar in the USA, but it is definitely worth a visit. It just gets really packed and I hate packed bars more than anything

hi i think i can help you with one of them

FISHING it is often a good time you will catch specald trout ,flounder , and redfish along the coast normaly its about 200 dollars for 4 hours of guided fishing my guide is no longer in south louisiana

GAMBLING well im kinda bies on that one i work for harrahs and belive the would be a good choice .If you go to any casino on the weekend dont expect to find any $5 games they will probley be $15 and higher dont play more than you can afford set a limit and stick to it and you will have a great time

hope this helps

Harrah%26#39;s is a beautiful casino and right there close by, so in my opinion, if you want to do some gambling, just go there. I was not impressed when we went on a swamp tour, but we went in a cool month and the animals were hibernating so we really didn%26#39;t see much; it might be a whole different story in the summer months. You might consider an airboat tour, I think they might be more adventurous. As far as strip clubs, I think that Rick%26#39;s Cabaret is considered to be a high-class kind of place. I agree, you%26#39;ve got to go to Pat O%26#39;Brien%26#39;s, and in my opinion, the more crowded it is, the more fun it is! Also, the Funky Pirate on Bourbon is good, see big Al Carson. We also enjoyed The Old Opera House on Bourbon Street, they used to have a wonderful cajun band, but I think that particular band moved to another bar and I don%26#39;t know the name...maybe a local can help with that. In any event, it would be hard for a group of young men not to have fun on Bourbon Street. Just start walking and go in wherever the music grabs you.

The hurricanes at Pat O%26#39;s hit me so hard I yelled,

';look that fire is on fountain!';

You will like Loft 523, i think their little bar has reopened, so that is a great meeting spot.

Drinking: Pat O%26#39;s as she mentioned is a must; also Lafittes Blacksmith Shop is a great hang out - quiet authentic. Not to be confused with Cafe Lafittes (which is a gay bar opposite ends of the block). See …nola.com/entertainment/2007/07/new_orleans_…

Dining: NOLA%26#39;s (an Emeril spot; The Napolean House

Do something cultural at least while here, because NOLA is NOT all about drinking. Get a guided tour of a cemetary or go fishing as has been mentioned, or a swamp tour (although it will be swealtering hot).

For bottle service in a bar I think you might try Whiskey Blue in the W Hotel on Poydras. Ask the Concierge at Loft 523, if your travel consultant cannot get you an answer on this. The Foundation Room at House of Blues does this I think. U might see what is on at House of Blues and some of the other clubs in town for entertainment.

Jazz : Snug Harbor on Frenchman Street is a must.

Strip clubs .. I think Rick*s and Hustler are the two BEST.. but there are others.

Hope this helps .. and that you guys enjoy your visit to Louisiana... be safe and have fun!

Just a thought: you can rent the balcony room at Fat Tuesday/New Orleans Original Daquiries at 633 bourbon Street. You have different options of food/liquor. I believe they will provide a bartender if you prefer not to run a tab downstairs for alcohol. You can also bring in food. Might be different from bar hopping if you want to just stay in one spot for part of the night and do something more private but have easy access to the sights and sounds of Bourbon Street. Ph# 504-524-5185. Have fun!

Hey travelbruin,

Been on 5 bachelor parties, all in our 30%26#39;s, and the main MO is definately drinking. But, like you said, the older you get...

We started each evening of every trip at Pat O%26#39;s for only 2 hurricanes apiece. (3 gets you way over the edge and 4 gets you%26#39;re just plum stupid). i.e. see above post about the fountain (sorry Tonya! not saying you had 4). And yes, the guy on the 9-day bender needs to give up some info.

After either attracting a crowd, or slowly running everyone off, take it on down the street. Rick%26#39;s is the better of the gentlemen%26#39;s clubs in our opinion. Skip the cheesy burlesque shows on Bourbon. Hit all the usuals, but, if you%26#39;re like us, we found more fun just walking the street %26amp; playing it by ear. If it has a crowd, drop-in.

Hey, for fun you can always tell the bachelor %26amp; best man that at midnight you%26#39;re all meeting at the back bar of Oz. Send them in solo %26amp; watch from outside, see how long it takes for them to figure it out. If you%26#39;re the best man, pick someone else!

We never took the Swamp Tour, too hungover, etc. Stayed at casino too late after long nights walking Bourbon. Hung around the pool during the day. All were fun though, wouldn%26#39;t trade the experiences for the world. I did see a cop throw an FBI agent buddy of ours in the clink for opening a door at Pat O%26#39;s right into the policeman. He even said ';Excuse me, sorry about that';. Didn%26#39;t even bump him that hard. Didn%26#39;t matter, he was cuffed %26amp; stuffed and headed down. Stayed long enough to ATM some cash %26amp; pay his fine. Was back not long after. Big rip-off, but what do you do. Have someone there keep everyone in check %26amp; set a designated meeting place or have each other%26#39;s cell #%26#39;s for when you break up into smaller groups. Comes in handy when some want to hit the casino.

Harrah%26#39;s for gambling. As good a chance there as any, and it%26#39;s close. Coop%26#39;s Place for good food.
