1st time in NO!!

Just booked our trip for the end of Sept!!! Can%26#39;t wait! How much should we expect to pay for transportation from the airport to the Laquinta downtown? Or does the LQ provide transport? Any great, reasonable priced restaurants by the LQ downtown? How about places to be on your birthday? Thanks for the responses!! G

1st time in NO!!

I%26#39;ll handle one question-Taxi%26#39;s are fixed rate from the airport at $28 plus $1 gas surcharge. Its a lot less stressfull than the shuttle that stops at all the passenger hotels. Birthday dinners would depend upon what kind of foods you like and really elaborate or?? A nice romantic place is Bayona on Dauphine St. or Irene%26#39;s (Italian).

Yes the shuttle can stop a few times, but if youre on a budget it';s

a good deal. If I recall LQ is in the CBD (central business district) So there is a good chance you%26#39;ll get dropped off early.

Don%26#39;t worry, It%26#39;s just a couple of blocks to the french quarter.

And IMHO some of the better restaurants are located there.

And because they are not in the Quarter they cater to locals and visitors .So good places in the CBD , some cheap, some NOT

cheap. I%26#39;ll let you have the fun researching which are which:

bon ton cafe. cuvee. mothers .cochon .. herbsaint . grand island oyster .restaurant august .cafe adelaide . the swizzle stick bar

palace cafe.

I%26#39;m sure I have forgotten many wonderful places , but that was from memory. And don%26#39;t get the idea I don%26#39;t like places in the FQ That would not be true! I LOVE everything about The quarter I just wanted to let you know theres a lot going on where you are staying

And by the way the CBD is safe.

I%26#39;m jealous

ENJOY!

paul..shuttle is not such a good deal if two people...taxi round trip comes up to $58 and the shuttle is $52 roundtrip..for the $3 each way difference its worth it to zip right to the hotel.

I%26#39;m confussed, Is the taxi rate of $28 per person?? Where is the $52 bucks coming from? Please let me know! Thanks

Sorry.... I didn%26#39;t read..... need to go back to school I guess.... Round Trip..... Oh that is better!

Are you old enough to be in the establishments in the French Quarter? If so, the piano bar in Pat O%26#39;Brien%26#39;s with a Hurricane is a must for a birthday sing-along with dueling pianos. A carriage ride through the French Quarter is also nice. Galatoire%26#39;s is a local tradition for celebrating birthdays, very festive. Reasonable enough if you don%26#39;t order too much extra to drink. Cafe Masparo, Felix%26#39;s Oyster Bar and Acme Oyster Bar all have great seafood meals and po%26#39;boys for reasonable prices.
