Country Inn and Suites vs Place d'Armes

We%26#39;ve read all of the reviews.

Like the closeness of the Place d%26#39;Armes to the French Quarter.

Like the room size of Country Inn.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Country Inn and Suites vs Place d'Armes

I stayed at the Place in early June, and I have to say that it has to be one of the best locations in the French Quarter. You are literally a stone%26#39;s throw from Jackson Square, Cafe du Monde, Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville.........add that to a free continental breakfast and a friendly staff and I will never stay anywhere else. Our room was spacious and on a quiet and private end of the courtyard that gave us outdoor seating, but kept us from the noise of the pool. We had two full beds, a ';real'; closet and a chest of drawers in the room, as well as a sitting area near the door.

The only caveat I would give is this: if you are bothered by a bit of peeling wallpaper or a bit of wear and tear on the furniture, then this may not be the place for you. The building is old and has its quirks. But our room was clean and, given that I don%26#39;t go to NOLA to sit in my room, well worth the price.

Country Inn and Suites vs Place d'Armes

I would say consider whether you%26#39;re going to spend a lot of time in your room or if you%26#39;ll be walking around more. If you%26#39;re mostly going to be sleeping/getting ready then I would go for the location of the Place D%26#39;arms. A lot of times when I travel I make the mistake of getting a nice hotel room for more money than I should spend when I usually walk around most of the time.

Now if it was my honeymoon or ';romantic trip';....

The suites have a fridge and microwave which was nice.

For the romantic and french style and location, location, location..with several courtyards , european style bistro for breakfast croissaints and coffee you can%26#39;t beat the Place D%26#39;armes and they have a great staff of people there. I tried for there this weekend but was out of luck.

Country inn and suites will be cleaner and newer. It depends on what you want. the place d armes is very convenient, but if you are fussy where you sleep, go with country inn and suites.

Thanks for the replies.

We love the location of Place d%26#39;Armes.

We got a great deal at Country Inn because we are volunteering with Habitat while down there.

Like the idea of having a fridge and a little more room.
