We%26#39;re taking a ';girlfriend'; cruise and wil be staying in NOLA only one night pre-cruise. We got a great rate at this hotel and get to park our van there while we%26#39;re on the cruise for free! The deal seems too good to be true... just wondered if there%26#39;s anything wrong with the hotel or the area in which it%26#39;s located??? We%26#39;re driving in on Sept. 30 and will pretty much only be sleeping there. The reviews seem fine; just want to make sure it%26#39;s not a pigsty or in a horrible neighborhood. Thanks!
Hotel Maison St. Charles?
Being allowed to park the van for free for an entire week is a great deal. You should be happy about that!
The hotel is on St. Charles near Lee Circle. It%26#39;s not the best part of the Avenue, to be fair, but for one night it%26#39;s absolutely okay. Several restaurants nearby, inc. Emeril%26#39;s Delmonico ($$$), Voodoo BBQ ($) and Zea Rotisserie ($$). All are good.
Hotel Maison St. Charles?
Thanks for the info. The parking sealed the deal for us,, plus the rate was good, too ($94 per room, then the free parking for the week.) Just didn%26#39;t want to get us started on the wrong foot by being disappointed or even disgusted with our precruise lodging.
As long as you use caution in the area you should be fine. I would not walk around the streets in that area after dark unless in a large group. Take a cab or drive after dark.
We stayed there for a week pre-storm, and we enjoyed our stay there. The parking is in a gated lot next to the hotel The valet will take it there. I second the warning about walking at night. Daytime should be fine, though.
