restaurant help- i haven't been to NO in 5 years!!

The last time I was in New Orleans, I was 20 years old with my parents. Now I am 25, married, and so excited to show my husband what NO is all about!! I haven%26#39;t been post Katrina and was curious if restaurants have changed. I really want my husband to experience true New Orleans cajun food. The last memorable dinner I had in NO was at Galatoire%26#39;s.... is the food still as good as I remember it? Acme Oyster house is a must along with Cafe du Monde. Price doesn%26#39;t matter. Any suggestions would be SO helpful!!! Next week I will have a cold hurricane in my hand!! Can%26#39;t wait!

Try a tripadvisor forum search as food seems to be the most popular topic. Tom Fitzmorris%26#39; site www.nomenu.com lists the open restaurants and addresses and phone numbers as well as the link if they have a website.

We have liked Dickie Brennan%26#39;s or Delmonico%26#39;s for steaks, Carmelo%26#39;s or Irene%26#39;s for Italian food, Arnauds/Olivier%26#39;s for creole;Gumbo Shop, KPauls and a fun night of cajun at Mulate%26#39;s. Others would be Acme, Coops, Fiorello%26#39;s, GW Fins, Muriels (gumbo and grilled redfish)...so many good places to try to think of...

Our flight leaves late afternoon on a Sunday. Where do you suggest that has the best brunch! Thanks for the suggestions!

best etouffee?

heyya miss.......I really enjoy a place that%26#39;s pretty popular on the forum here........it%26#39;s called Coop%26#39;s Place and it%26#39;s on Decator. Nothing fancy, but the food is fantastic and seems very authentic cajun....I think they smoke their own sausage on site and the jambalya w/ seafood is the best i%26#39;ve ever had. K-Pauls is fantastic too (pricier though) have fun!

Muriels has a nice brunch between 11-2 with a jazz band, hotel intercontinental in the veranda has a good brunch; I think Arnaud%26#39;s also has one. I%26#39;d avoid Court of Two Sisters. Olivier%26#39;s has a good etouffee as does Gumbo Shop but as the other poster suggested..Coop%26#39;s..If you don%26#39;t mind eating while a pool table game is going on or noise from the bar..its super food and great prices..On Decatur.

I just was on Coop%26#39;s place website! I think it is right up our alley!! I love hole in the wall places with great food!! We will be there for 3 nights and think we will do k-pauls, coop%26#39;s, and galatoire%26#39;s for dinner! acme%26#39;s and johnny%26#39;s po boys for lunches and I am still undecided for brunch. I love tripadvisor!

Hubby and I have celebrated our anniversary at Galatoire%26#39;s on several occasions, most recently last year, and it was just as fabulous as ever! The French Quarter seems to have been relatively unscathed by Katrina, other than that many of the people who worked there had to relocate.

Our server at Galatoire%26#39;s explained that the owners continued to pay their staff (at least those that they could find) so that once they reopened they could pick right up where they left off, and they seem to have done so.

I can hardly wait for our evening of decadent dining coming up at the end of the month. I%26#39;ve been looking forward to my next dinner at Galatoire%26#39;s ever since the last one!

Red Fish Grill, Deanie%26#39;s Seafood, Gumbo Shop for casual dining

Irene%26#39;s, Bayona, Stella%26#39;s, Brennan%26#39;s, Arnuad%26#39;s, Cafe Giovanni or Antoine%26#39;s for fine dining.

K-Pauls is the best in my opinion. Try the BBQ shrimp. It is sooo good you will want to put your face in the plate!!!!! Before Katrina we ate at a place called Deenies. It was fabulous as well as very reasonable. BUT our last trip , it had not recovered from Katrina. We are going in mid august and I certainly hope they have reopened!!! GOOD EATS to you!!!

Try Cafe Degas for Brunch on Sunday. We%26#39;ve been once and loved it, plus, if you have time, the New Orleans Museum of Art is right across the street.

Go to Cafe Degas website and print a coupon for $12 off an entree.

The Hanger Steak is great!
