One to do in a day

We are traveling with a group of 5 couples October 19th. We will arrive at 330pm by amtrak. We would like to know a good place to have dinner. We are staying at the La Quinta Inn Downtown, New Orleans. Would like your opinion of the hotel since Katrina and any suggestions for entertainment suitable for 60 y/olds. We will be leaving for a Carnival cruise the next day at 4pm so time is very limited. Thanks

I don%26#39;t know anything about the hotel, but my husband and I are in our fifties and we love to go to Pat O%26#39;Brien%26#39;s and sing along with the piano players, and you might enjoy Preservation Hall, which is right next door to Pat O%26#39;Brien%26#39;s. Just wander up and down Bourbon Street and go in wherever you like the music. We also like Big Al at the Funky Pirate. The only places where we haven%26#39;t been where I think we would have felt out of place because of our ages are the karaoke bars, which don%26#39;t interest us at all anyway. You might also enjoy a buggy ride thru the French Quarter, you can find the buggies lined up in front of Jackson Square.

The Ritz Carlton lounge has either Jeremy Davenport or Marva Wright which is fine local entertainment. For food..what is everyones tastes..do you want the cajun experience, old time no restaurant? romantic restaurant?
