trip report for July 13

Hello everyone- I do not have a long report as we were only in New Orleans for 5 hours. We got to the French Quarter at around 11 am- we did do Cafe DuMonde for the beigets and au lait. Delicious! Just too much powdered sugar, very messy. Then we walked and walked for hours up and down the streets. We did eat at The Napolean House for dinner, we had the muffalettas also delicious. They did let my 11 year old in even the bar area. We would have loved to have eaten on the patio, but we we all hot. The French Quarter is pretty, it did not smell bad, except on Bourbon street it did a little, not bad. We all felt safe walking around, as we were a family of 4- two adults and two kids ages 11 and 16. It was very hot, hey we sweated off our beignets. If I was to come back I would do some tours (swamp and plantation) and eat at a couple more restaurants. Oh also the pralines were very good at Aunt Sallys. We stayed at the Hampton Inn in LaPlace 20 min. away. Very nice hotel, bigger than the hotel we stayed in Destin. Overall I am glad we visited New Orleans, the French Quarter.

I agree with too much powdered sugar, but I like to shake em off and use the excess in my coffee!

Of course if you want to see how emotional a %26#39;friend%26#39; might get..blow the powder off the beignets at them. It is always a good idea not to eat beinets on a windy day.

';Cafe DuMonde for the beignets '; A local restaurant not a block from my house makes them--but it%26#39;s not the same!! I have a box of their mix in my fridge--but it%26#39;s not the same!!
